Tellington TTouch Training cont.

humane society dog training event Body wraps were demonstrated, encasing the animal in a mended for dogs that are afraid of loud noise, are nervous or hyperactive, or who panic when riding in a car.

Finally, they demonstrated a confidence course, with a labyrinth set up on the floor. Although mainly to help the animal be more agile and balanced, it is also amazingly beneficial to a dog who actively dislikes other dogs. The demo dog was able to move thrugh the labyrinth at the same time as other dogs, concentrating on her own movements, and ignoring the others.

Another confidence method involved a ladder lying on the floor. Demo dogs were led along this ladder. Difficult at first, soon the dogs mastered walking the ladder, while keeping the entire body on track. This was said to develop confidence and increase control and strength of the hind legs and hips.

Both pets and people enjoyed this fascinating program. If there is enough interest, the Shelter may consider offering this program to the community at a later date.
