Workshops & Events

Deirdre is available for group presentations and workshops. Below is an article from the Humane Times (Spring 2008) about a class she and another TTouch practitioner presented on the TTouch method for the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County.

Tellington TTouch Training

dog training presentationAn unusual class was offered as a benefit for Humane Society volunteers. It was billed as a massage class, but it was that and much more. The Tellington TTouch class, taught by certified practitioners Deirdre Chitwood and Karen Vermeegen, is an approach developed by internationally recognized animal expert, Linda Tellington-Jones.

Calming "touches" start by using circular movements of the fingers and hands over the body. Attendees were told to imagine the face of a clock on the animal's body, about 1 inch in diameter. Placing lightly curved fingers at six o'clock, one pushes the skin around the face of the clock for one and a quarter circles, feeling a connection between thumb and fingers. Supporting the body with the free hand, participants were shown how to move steadily along the animal's body. Other "touches" were taught involving the ears, tail, and even the mouth. Specific "touches" were indicated for effect on specific behavior or temperament issues.       >>>Read More
